ELEVATION PROFILE

ITINERARY DAY 1

We will leave Cusco by vehicle toward Anta Province. After approximately 50 minutes, we will make a brief stop at the "La Granja Suiza", to taste its dairy products. We will continue for another hour by vehicle to Huaqraq’asa, where we will start an 8 km walk along the crest of the mountains that will take us to the Community of Chonta. After almost 3 hours of walking, we will arrive at the community, where a group of villagers will welcome us. We will spend the night at Mery's house who will be our hostess. We will have part of the afternoon free to rest and relax before our dinner and astronomy talk.

DAY 2

A day full of experiences awaits us. After having breakfast at 7 am, Cesar will teach us about some wild plants that grow in the area and how they are used in the Andes. After our talk, it is time to become familiar with the produce grown in Chonta of which will be part of our Andean buffet shared with Mery and her family and some local people.
After lunch, a 1-hour walk to the Condor viewpoint awaits us, to observe the world's largest and heaviest flying bird in its natural habitat next to the impressive Apurímac Canyon. Here, we can observe the community’s initiatives to preserve and protect such a wonderful bird that is so intimately related to the Andean worldview. From there, we will walk back to the community to say goodbye, and board the vehicle that will take us back to our hotel.
