ITINERARY
We will drive to the district of Taray, which is located very close to Pisaq. On the way we will see the fruits that grow in the area by season and how they are used by the local people, such as the tuna, as well as the cochineal, the Molle used as pepper, the tumbo, the capuli and the sauco for the preparation of jams. We will pass by the house of Clorinda Matto de Turner, illustrious writer from Cusco who was the second woman in Peru to study at the University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco in the mid-nineteenth century.
In the district of Lamay, we will learn how the Guinea pig is prepared in one of its forms and its nutritional importance and why it is part of the tradition in the Andes. We continue to Huicho, a rural community where the chicheria Ajawasi (the house of the chicha) is located, a family atmosphere, and very comfortable to taste the chicha in its different versions.
From the chicha de jora, the frutillada and the chicha morada, as well as the elaboration process, main ingredients and its relation with the local customs, the last part of the bike ride take us to Urquillos, a community where is the House of Mateo Pumacahua, which takes us to know the process that the indigenous people lived before our independence in the 19th century.
