ITINERARY

We leave by car, heading towards Chinchero located one hour from Cusco. From Chinchero there is an additional 35-minute drive on a dirt road to 4150 m./ 13615 ft. Once there, we will start our hike. Because of the higher altitude, you may feel cold and perhaps some strained breathing at the beginning, but your body will get conditioned as we walk. We will see the Qoriqocha lagoon to our right surrounded by a rather lonely but incredible landscape because of  the high altitude. two hours later, we will arrive at the "apachetas" (piled up stones  on the side of the road that are left by the walkers as a sign of gratitude to the mountain).

From this point, we will descend through a rock-paved Inca Trail that was recently restored and leads us to Huchuyqosqo in the middle of ravines and slopes. On the way, we will observe how the temperature increases along with the vegetation of the landscape. We will pass by a local Community called Pucamarca, in a very secluded location.

We will continue walking and stop for lunch with an unparalleled view of the Sacred Valley, then visit Huchuyqosqo; an administrative and religious center of the Inca era that preserves fine stone buildings which shape the mountain with harmony and beauty. At the end of our tour, we will descend for more than 1.30 hours until we reach the valley, where our transport awaits and will take us back to Cusco.
